Conference interpreters are specialists who are proficient in all the relevant techniques – simultaneous interpreting, consecutive interpreting, liaison interpreting and whispered interpreting.

TTS offers consecutive and simultaneous interpreting.

Consecutive interpreting

In consecutive interpreting, longer sections of speech are translated with a time delay, usually on the basis of notes (using a special note-taking technique) after the original text has been delivered. The number of consecutive interpreters required depends on the level of difficulty and the duration of the assignment. Because of the deferred interpretation, you need to allow about twice as much time as for simultaneous interpretation.

Use: After-dinner and welcome speeches, negotiations, ceremonial speeches, lectures, guided tours, etc.

Simultaneous interpreting

In simultaneous interpreting, speeches are translated almost in real time. This requires the highest attention and concentration. For this reason, at least two simultaneous interpreters usually work together in a soundproof interpreting booth, alternating regularly (every 30 minutes) and supporting each other – one person can look up a missing term while the other interprets.

Use: multilingual events, conferences, meetings, negotiations, shows, galas, etc.

Simultaneous interpreting via the Internet
RSI: remote simultaneous interpretation

Special software can be used for simultaneous interpreting over the Internet, but it is very expensive. This can be avoided by using a standard video conferencing system such as Zoom or Webex.
